Personal Life
Before marrying Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi was married to Khawar Maneka, a high-ranking Customs official and the son of Ghulam Muhammad Maneka, a former federal minister in Benazir Bhutto’s government. Khawar’s brother, Ahmad Raza Maneka, is a member of Pakistan’s National Assembly and affiliated with the PML-N political party. Bushra and Khawar divorced in 2017, and from her previous marriage, Bushra has three daughters and two sons.
Her two sons graduated from Aitchison College in Lahore in 2013 and followed higher education abroad. Bushra’s eldest daughter, Mehru Maneka, is married to politician Mian Atta Muhammad Manika’s son, and another of her daughters is also married. On 6 August 2018, it has reported that Mehru Maneka had joined Imran Khan’s political party, the PTI, after meeting with him.

Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi first met in 2015 at the Baba Farid shrine in Pakpattan. Imran Khan has been visiting the shrine for many years, inclined towards Sufism, a mystical Islamic belief. He used to visit the town in the evening with his security guards and would stay at the Maneka family’s house, who was his local hosts. The Manekas were influential in the area and spiritually connected with Khan. Bushra Bibi, who was married to Khawar Maneka then, was a well-known Sufi scholar, mentor, and faith healer.
She was respected as a spiritual leader and had a reputation as a pir or murshid. It is what attracted Khan to her. During his visits, Khan would consult with Bushra Bibi on spiritual matters whenever he faced difficult situations. He described his interest in Sufism as a life-changing experience that began 30 years ago. Khan believes Sufism has many levels, but he has never met anyone as spiritually elevated as his wife. His admiration for her spiritual insight drew him closer to her.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were introduced through her sister, a member of Khan’s political party, PTI. Khan visited Bushra Bibi’s house to seek her advice and guidance on religious matters, and they developed a personal understanding over time. They became closer after she correctly predicted the outcome of a by-election in 2015, and he started visiting her more frequently.

However, the idea of marriage only arose once Khan learned of her divorce. Interestingly, he proposed to her without ever seeing her face because she always wore a full veil in public. He only saw an old photograph of her before they got married, but he was not disappointed when he finally saw her in person. According to Khan, they are now happily married.
Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s current wife, has revealed that marrying the Pakistani Prime Minister has changed her life. Previously, Bushra’s life revolved around praying to God, but Khan taught her that serving the helpless and needy is equally essential. Khan has also claimed that his attitude towards relationships has changed and that a person’s character and intellect are much more important than physical appearance. They both went on a pilgrimage to Makkah a few months after marriage.
Bushra is known to be an introvert who prefers to stay at home rather than attend social functions and gatherings frequently. Khan has no objections to this as he is “past the age of socialising”. Khan’s two sons have met Bushra, and he has also gotten to know Bushra’s children since their marriage.

Bushra Bibi has clarified that her Nikkah with Khan took place seven months after the ‘Iddat period’ following the dissolution of her 1st marriage. She has also stated that Bushra is not present on social media, and any accounts imposed on her are fake.
